TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Participants are welcome to submit a financial aid application at any time. Please note that the annual pool of funds is used entirely each year, so applications that come in later in the year may not be considered even if there is financial need contingent on available funds.

ELIGIBILITY

Financial support applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent legal residents, or eligible non-citizens. Students enrolled in secondary, college, or graduate educational programs may be given preference over individuals who are not students. Individuals applying as mentors on our Service Year teams who are in professional fields needed on our teams can be considered if there is demonstrated financial need.

PLANNING EXPENSES

Costs of a Youthlinc Service Year Trip vary, and estimated costs of our trips are published in advance of our registration deadline. We encourage students with limited funds to choose the most reasonably priced international trip. The majority of Youthlinc applicants, regardless of family income, fundraise for all or part of their trip cost, and this is a realistic expectation for all participants. Youthlinc provides fundraising ideas in our participant materials, and teams discuss fundraising ideas. However, the sponsorship funds which can be allocated are limited, and our priority is to offer sponsorship funds to students who have a demonstrated commitment to service and a demonstrated financial need whenever possible. Financial aid sponsorship levels will vary depending on available funds and demonstrated need. Financial aid sponsorships will range from $250 to $900 in support. Youthlinc Service Year trips are the most reasonably priced of any international service organization in Utah. Students who apply to our Service Year should anticipate fundraising/paying the full cost, as there is no guarantee of sponsorship availability.

DISBURSING SPONSORSHIP FUNDS

Any awarded sponsorship will be considered part of a participant’s final payment, generally due April 1. All other payments, including the nonrefundable deposit, must be made on the monthly deadlines.
